The Enterprise Breeding System’s (EBS) Internal Services (IS) team facilitated a workshop on 14 September 2023 at the IKS Commons, IRRI Headquarters to capacitate internal staff as the system is being readied to be migrated to Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS).

Participants included key representatives from other EBS teams, as well as staff members from the IRRI Information and Knowledge Systems (IKS). Tools and processes related to the migration was presented by Jack Lagare (EBS IS Lead), Renee Lat (DevOps Engineer), Sol Marfil (Database Engineer), Neo Lapitan (Database Engineer), PJ Sinohin (Software Quality Assurance Engineer), Eugene Tenorio (DevOps Lead), and Doris Pagtananan (Software Quality Assurance Lead).

Among the topics presented were CloudWatch dashboards, database testing with Pytest, and the Hybrid Testing Automation Framework (HTAF).

The workshop is part of the efforts to transition EBS from Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) to PaaS by December 2023. This architecture shift will allow clients to use the latest EBS version available by speeding up the deployment process.

Development of EBS is guided by the needs of its users, both current and future.
