Philippine Rice Research Institute’s Department of Agriculture adopts EBS

Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija — A week-long Enterprise Breeding System (EBS) training was held at the Department of Agriculture Philippine Rice Research Institute (DA-PhilRice) Central Experiment Station (CES) from 20-24 May 2024. A total of 14 participants composed of Science Research Specialists from the Plant Breeding and Biotechnology Division (PBBD), including a data manager and computer programmer, attended the tailored training sessions, which are part of the EBS adoption process as PhilRice transitions to use EBS as its breeding management system.

Breeding and Research Services (BRS) Senior Director, Dr. Sharifah Syed Alwee, returned to the International Rice Research Institute Headquarters (IRRI HQ) to spearhead the first BRS general meeting on 01 February 2024 at the IKS Network Commons. The meeting was attended by members of the Enterprise Breeding System (EBS) team and IRRI’s laboratory services: Grain Quality and Nutrition Services Laboratory (GQNSL) and Genotyping Service Laboratory (GSL) teams.

EBS IS team conducts internal Engineering Capacity-Building Sessions

The Enterprise Breeding System’s (EBS) Internal Services (IS) team conducted Engineering Capacity-Building Sessions from 15-25 January 2024 at the International Rice Research Headquarters (IRRI HQ). The series of sessions was attended by EBS staff based in IRRI HQ, including some colleagues from the Centro Internacional de Mejoramiento de Maíz y Trigo (CIMMYT).
