A two-week Knowledge Exchange Program (KEP) was hosted by the Enterprise Breeding System’s (EBS) adoption team at the International Rice Research Institute Headquarters (IRRI HQ) from 13-24 January 2025.
Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija — A week-long Enterprise Breeding System (EBS) training was held at the Department of Agriculture Philippine Rice Research Institute (DA-PhilRice) Central Experiment Station (CES) from 20-24 May 2024. A total of 14 participants composed of Science Research Specialists from the Plant Breeding and Biotechnology Division (PBBD), including a data manager and computer programmer, attended the tailored training sessions, which are part of the EBS adoption process as PhilRice transitions to use EBS as its breeding management system.
Breeding and Research Services (BRS) Senior Director, Dr. Sharifah Syed Alwee, returned to the International Rice Research Institute Headquarters (IRRI HQ) to spearhead the first BRS general meeting on 01 February 2024 at the IKS Network Commons. The meeting was attended by members of the Enterprise Breeding System (EBS) team and IRRI’s laboratory services: Grain Quality and Nutrition Services Laboratory (GQNSL) and Genotyping Service Laboratory (GSL) teams.
On 26 February 2025, the Breeding Resources (BR) poster on the Enterprise Breeding System (EBS) won the poster exhibition competition at the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) Science and Innovation Week (SIW)! 🎉👏
The poster underwent a rigorous evaluation process, which included a blind review by 17 CIMMYT scientists from various fields based on four key criteria:
✅ Relevance to the CIMMYT 2030 strategy,
✅ Novelty of the subject,
✅ Poster appearance & readability, and
✅ Clear conclusions & way forward.
SIW participants also voted for the best poster, with the final result combining both evaluations!
