The International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) in Morocco recently benefitted from a three-day adoption training session, focusing on introducing breeders and technicians to a new tool to support effective data management as part of the Enterprise Breeding System (EBS) adoption initiative.
The Enterprise Breeding System’s (EBS) Internal Services (IS) team facilitated a workshop on 14 September 2023 at the IKS Commons, IRRI Headquarters to capacitate internal staff as the system is being readied to be migrated to Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS).
To empower maize breeders and research support teams and elevate breeding standards, IITA organized a 2-day training workshop on the core functionalities of EBS. Facilitated by Simon Imoro and Bunmi Bossey, the training aimed to equip participants with practical skills to navigate the system’s recent upgrades and novel features.
The training aimed at increasing the uptake of EBS, promoting good data management practices, and enabling efficient data-driven breeding decisions.
To boost the efficiency and sustainability of its data-driven breeding efforts, CGIAR has endorsed a new strategy ensuring all network partners use a single data system. The strategy also creates a new organizational unit to manage, develop, and maintain data management tools.
IRRI’s training focused on enhancing skills in experiment planning and management using EBS, digitization of data collection, ensuring high-quality data, and effective data analysis and interpretation.
Development of EBS is guided by the needs of its users, both current and future.
